2243 Scottwood was built in 1889 for the sum of $2,000.   John Ormond, a lawyer with an office at 317 Superior, was the resident in 1891.  By 1896, the new occupant was Harry King whose biography and photograph appeared Memoirs of Lucas County and the City of Toledo on page 91. The 1900 Polk City Directory listed Mary (Haring) King, the widow of Harry King, as the resident.  The live-in domestics in 1900 were Mary Halpin and Elva Firestone.  The 1910 directory listed Walter Sherman of Riggs & Sherman, civil engineers.
