Built around 1897, 2317 Scottwood was built upon lots 26, 27, 28, west 30 feet of lot 29 and one-half of a vacated alley of the Genevieve Addition.  Lawyer James Hamilton and his second wife Ethel (Allen) Hamilton lived here along with their son Allen.  Mr. Hamilton's extensive biography and photograph appeared in both Toledo & Lucas County Vol. 2 on page 268 and Toledo & Lucas County Supplement on page 241.  In 1900 the live-in domestic was Anna Noone and the 1910 directory listed Ellen Noone as the domestic.
