630 Virginia-George Nort Home
 
This Virginia Street farmhouse about 1875 is located at 630.  An early resident was George Nort.  Mr. Nort sold flour at 1301 Cherry Street in 1891.  The 1900 city directory listed his occupation as gardener while the 1918 and 1921 directories listed Mr. Nort as a traveling agent or salesman.  The 1891 directory also listed John H. Nort as a boarder.  John H. Nort was the chief clerk with the American District Telegraph Company becoming an electrician there according to the 1896 directory.  The 1918 Polk City Directory listed John Nort as a roomer and the secretary of the Division Fire Department No. 3.
