662 Virginia was home to Sylvester Lawton of Lawton, Bartelle & Company according to the 1891 Polk City Directory.  His occupation was listed as bookkeeper with I. W. Copelin in 1900 and with the Big Four Hardwood Company in 1910, while the 1918 directory listed his job as "clerk".  The family employed a live-in domestic in 1896 by the name of Georgiana Cox.  Family members included S Howard Lawton, Platt Lawton and Frederick Lawton.
