2228 Glenwood-Calvin Brown Home
 
2228 Glenwood was built in 1892 for the Calvin Brown, a traveling agent.  Bertha Seegert was the family's live-in domestic in 1896.  That same year, Mary Arnett who was the widow of William Arnett, boarded here.  The 1910 Polk City Directory listed Alphonse Mennel, the president of the Isaac Harter Milling Company, as the resident with Emma Sonstron employed as the domestic.  The 1921 directory listed Hattie Morkowski as the live-in domestic.  The property was altered (#1521) in 1909 with the construction of a garage planned by Mills, Rheinhart & Bellman.
