2117 Glenwood

2117 Glenwood as it appeared in 1955.  Compare this photo to the vintage view of 2117 found on this site.   You can see that the original Victorian porch has been replaced and the balcony on the third floor has become a set of windows.  George Dunham of Dunham & Benson lived here in 1896 according to the Polk City Directory of that year.  Laura French, the widow of Edmond, was also a resident in 1896 and by 1900, nurse Eliza Pinkerton also lived here.  Additionally, Verner Morehouse, a bookkeeper at Dunham & Benson, boarded here in 1896.  In 1913 owner Theodore Schmitt hired the architectural firm of Huber & Gamble to remodel the single house into a duplex.
