Charles Carroll hired the Carl E. Mehring Company to design and build his home at 1968 Richmond Road in Westmoreland.  A "Mehring-Built Home" was one of "originality, quality and character".  The heating system was installed by the Hoffman & Harpst Company, 642-44 E. Woodruff.
