Ashland Avenue Baptist Church was constructed on West Woodruff Avenue as a mission church circa 1887.  It was enlarged by an larger structure which was built around 1893-95 toward the intersection of West Woodruff and Ashland avenues.  This original church was photographed by Julia Jay Coon was lived with her parents at 313 Floyd Street.
