Tufford Arms_1907

Designed by architect Bernhard Becker in the modern domestic English style which is a modified form of the Elizabethan style and owned by Aaron Chesbrough, Tufford Arms opened for tenants in early 1907.  A servants' bathroom was an innovation in Toledo apartment houses.   In the basement was a laundry, vegetable cellar and store room.  The plan included the planting of ivy to climb along the sides of the building "so that the front of the building will be picturesque in the extreme."
