2333 Scottwood (originally 2329-2331) appeared in Polk city directories after the mid-1920s. Built as a duplex, it was both architect David L. Stine's personal residence and a rental.  Mr. Stine continued to live at this address until his death in 1941.  I would surmise that he lived in the first floor apartment due to his advanced age.  Son Sidney and his wife Irene also are listed as occupants at the time of David's death. Perhaps they took the second floor apartment to be able to look after his aging parents.
