2208 Parkwood-Alexander Smith Home

This circa-1897 house, designed for lawyer Alexander Smith by Mills & Wachter, became home to the George Ross Ford family.  Mr. Ford became president of the Edward Ford Plate Glass Company at the time of his father's death.  Mr. Ford's biography and photograph appeared in Toledo & Lucas County Vol. 2 on page 274. Mr. Ford was married to Grace (Miller) Ford.  Della Ice served the Smith family as a domestic in 1900, while Mary Eckert was employed as a cook in 1910.   After 1948, the house at 2208 Parkwood Avenue was known as the B'nai Jacob Center.   It has since been demolished.
