627 Baldwin Place

627 Kent Place was home to Walter Lenk, the assistant secretary and assistant manager of the Lenk Wine Company which manufactured wine and grape brandy.  Their vineyards, vaults and offices stretched from 3700 to 3900 Detroit Avenue in 1911.  The house was constructed on lot #19 in the Hamilton's Extension of Baldwin Heights.  By 1918 the home at 627 Baldwin Place was the residence of W. Weiler Simonds.  Mr. Simonds ran Simonds Drug Store at 2501 Collingwood Avenue.  According to the 1921 directory Meda Harris roomed here.  She was the widow of Eli Harris.
