Charles H. Langdon of the architectural firm of Langdon and Hohly designed the First Congregational Church on Collingwood Avenue.  An explosion destroyed the ediface as described in the Toledo News Bee on February 5, 1927.  Although a gas leak and an ice storm which had sealed the building combined to create the perfect storm and the subsequent explostion, Mr. Langdon asserted that a bomb had been planted by an unknown intruder who had been seen earlier on the premises.
