John and Eliza Bailey lived at 2155 Collingwood Avenue as early as 1896.  The 1900 Census recorded the residents as widow Eliza Bailey, nephew Fred Blair, niece Theo Strong, and two servants Maggie Hardy and Ireland-born Anna Smith.  By the 1920s it became home to the Mark Mennel famiily.  By the late 1960s this imposing mansion would see the wrecking ball to clear the land for the new Lutheran Welfare Services building.
