Designed by the firm headed by George Mills, the home at 2808 Collingwood was built in 1904.  The 1907 Polk City Directory listed Edwin Thomas, the vice-president of the Toledo Ice & Coal Company, as the resident.  The 1918 and 1921 directories listed his occupation as real estate.  Cora Lenz was the live-in domestic in 1910 while Emma Bair served in this function in 1921.
