SORRY, BUT WE HAVE SOLD OUT OF OUR STOCK OF BOOKS!! ALTHOUGH WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING MAIL ORDERS YOU STILL MAY BE ABLE TO FIND A COPY AT ONE OF THE STORES LISTED BELOW. At last!! The first book written about the Old West End has been published. Four years in the making, it's an 8 1/2 X 11 inch glossy soft cover book with 176 pages and over 380 photographs. It was written by Old West End resident Larry Stine with assistance from Fred Folger III (the "dean" of Toledo historians), graphics guru Kent Illenden, proof reader extrodinaire Vince Rupp, Jr, and me, the scan man. You can get the book by sending your $37.50 check, which includes shipping, to Old West End Association, PO Box 4652, Toledo, Ohio 43610. If you absolutely can't wait for the mail, you can get the book downtown at Leo's Book Store, 333 N. Superior St., Old West End Collectors Corner on Lagrange St., Farmhouse Gift Shop at Wildwood Metropark, or Frogtown Books on Reynolds Rd. Click here to see a scan of the cover. Information about the 2007 Old West End Festival, including how to enter the Art Fair, will be found at www.toledooldwestend.com. Information about the yearly Christmas home tours sponsored by The Women of the Old West End will be found at www.toursdenoel.com. The Old West End Association meets at 7:00pm on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Mansion View, 2035 Collingwood Blvd. Toledoan Bill Speck has his third book out on the architectural history of Toledo. Bill contributed photos to this site and all of his books are fascinating. The new book (and his previous volumes) are available at Leo's Book Store, downtown on Superior Street. Here is a site that you will certainly want to visit: THE FABULOUS RUINS OF DETROIT. It's an award winning, thought provoking, exciting, and at the same time depressing tour of the brownfields of Detroit and some of its suburbs. I am long overdue thanking the following people for their help and contributions to the Old West End Homepage: Neal Ward, Mary Bennett, Jim Jeffries, Brent Welsh, Holly Cookis, Phil Klunk, Skip Gaynor, Daniel Crots, Kent Illenden, Paul Kemner, Jack K., Tom Crocker, Kathleen Kovacs, Richard Wall, Matt Weiderhold, Ken Levin, Bill Speck, Fred Folger, Larry Stine, and Kay C. My thanks to all of you !! |
